-Litochoro, built on the eastern slopes of Olympus, is known as the "City of the Gods." Its history is lost in the depths of the centuries, with the area being inhabited since antiquity. It is said that its name derives from the fact that it was built on stony ground. -Litochoro, built at the foot of Olympus, has a long history linked to the ancient worship of the gods. During the Turkish Rule, it emerged as a center of seafaring, while its inhabitants actively participated in the Revolution of 1878. The area was an important station for fighters and maintained a strong national sentiment. -The Revolution of 1878 places Litochoro in a prominent position in the Macedonian Struggle. In February 1878, after an uprising led by Kosmas Doubiotis, the Turks completely burned it to the ground. This event remained etched in the memory of the inhabitants and influenced the modern course of the area. -In the Balkan Wars and World War II, many Litochorites participated actively. The strategic position of the village at the foot of Olympus made it a point of military operations. -After its liberation and especially after 1950, Litochoro began to emerge as a tourist destination, mainly due to its unique nature and proximity to Olympus. Today it combines history, tradition, and tourist development.
